What to Wear Skiing and Snowboarding

In skiing and snowboarding, there’s no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes. Watch the video and follow these tips when choosing your outfit for the day.

  • Opt for non-cotton base layers to wick sweat and keep you warm.
  • One pair of light socks will do the trick- boots go up to about mid shin, so be sure your socks are tall enough- just below the knee is ideal.
  • Add as many warm, wicking layers as you need and top it off with a wind and waterproof outer layer.
  • Waterproof gloves or mittens should make the list and something on your head is a must- we recommend a well-fitting snow sports helmet.
  • We recommend winter sports goggles or sunglasses as the snow is bright, even on cloudy days. A layer of sunscreen on your face is a good idea too.

Don't worry if you forget something or aren't sure what you need - we have a retail shop in Snowshed and K-1 base lodges. And be sure to drink plenty of water and get a good night’s sleep.

The Easiest Vermont Resort to Park at

Pico Mountain sits right on Route 4 — just 9 miles from Rutland and easy to reach from Boston, New York, or Burlington. There's no access road to navigate: park at the base and you're steps from the lifts. Pico has one primary base lodge — which means one straightforward lot with no guessing. Free parking is available for all guests, with drop-off and pick-up lanes so you can unload passengers and gear before you park. Pico Mountain offers 9 stations of solar-powered EV charging at the base area. Chargers are slab-mounted and powered by solar trackers, sited in lower-demand areas of the parking lot to allow for longer sessions without competing for prime spaces. Additional EV charging is available at Killington Resort base lodges including Snowshed (18 stations), K-1 (12), and Skyeship (12), all a short drive or shuttle ride away.
