All lifts at Killington Resort and Pico Mountain, as well as Killington’s Peak Lodge, are powered by renewable energy, through a combination of solar and Cow Power. We use on-site solar installations and partner with off-site solar farms to generate 3.3 million kWh of clean electricity each year—enough electricity to power 370 homes annually. Cow Power is electricity generated from manure at local dairy farms through a partnership with Green Mountain Power.

Killington has partnered with Efficiency Vermont to replace older, high energy snowguns with modern, low energy guns. These new, energy efficient snowguns use less than 2% of the compressed air consumed by older, high energy guns.

Killington provides guests and staff with 47 electric car charging stations located across the resort.

Twelve walk-in coolers at Killington have been converted to use the frosty Vermont outside air to keep food cool, reducing CO2 emissions by nearly 30,000 pounds each year. To put that in perspective, seven Ford F-150 pickup trucks weigh about 29,000 pounds.

Our food and beverage team has partnered with Grow Compost of Vermont to divert much of the food waste produced in our resort kitchens from the landfill, turning it instead into rich soil for use in gardens and farms. In 2019, Killington Resort received a Certificate of Environmental Stewardship for diverting 201,600 pounds of food scraps from the landfill. To put it in perspective, that's a greenhouse gas emission savings equivalent to preventing 8,167 gallons of gasoline from being used.

Killington partners with Casella Resource Solutions for our zero-sort recycling program. No sorting on your end makes it easier to recycle, putting more of our stuff back into the world and less into landfills. We recycle approximately 98 tons of waste through this program annually.

Killington owns and operates two wastewater treatment plants that conserve as much as 35,000 gallons of fresh water daily.

Killington uses Forest Stewardship Council certified paper for printing trail guides and other marketing collateral. Additionally, in partnership with Nokian Tyres, we had a tree planted for every Season Pass sold for winter 2020/21 and winter 2022/23.

We know that not all skiers & riders at Killington started their journey at The Beast. That’s why we’re committed to supporting smaller local resorts through our new Community Mountain Support Fund—because having more opportunities to get on the hill is a win for everyone.

Our first funds allocated to this program came from auctioning off the original Skyeship Gondola cabins in summer of 2025. With support from the Killington World Cup Foundation (KWCF), auction proceeds totaling over $150,000 will now be allocated to help community mountains with their infrastructure projects. Applications were accepted through March 25, 2026, and funding recipients will be announced in late April of 2026.

Killington Resort and Pico Mountain are committing $50,000 through our Upward & Outward Employee Relief Fund, which will be matched by a personal donation from the Gross and Ferri Families, lead investors in the Killington Independence Ownership Group. Together, this $100,000 fund will provide $1,000 in direct assistance to each of our 100 affected team members.

Killington is dedicated to supporting food security for its employees and the local community through ongoing donations and partnerships. The resort continues to explore new ways to expand these efforts and strengthen access to nutritious food across the region.

We believe all children should have an opportunity to experience the joy of skiing and snowboarding. To enable this, we partner with local schools to introduce youth to the joys of winter sports.

Our longstanding partnership with Vermont Adaptive enables youth and adults with disabilities to gain a measure of self-confidence and independence by participating in adaptive sports programs and activities at Killington.

To expand youth access to winter sports through a $60,000 seasonal lease program for Vermont Student Pass holders in Windsor and Rutland Counties. For the 2025/26 season, Killington and Pico will cover ski and snowboard lease costs for more than 300 children aged 11 and under, helping families overcome financial barriers while supporting local partner shops. Rooted in the resort’s Respect and Connect pillars, the program fosters a love of mountain sports and strengthens connections with local retailers and the community.

Partner ski and snowboard shops include Basin Ski Essentials, Darkside Snowboards, Peak Performance, Aspen East, First Stop Board Barn, and Forerunner. With the help of these partners and member businesses of the Killington/Pico Area Association, we look forward to keeping this program thriving for years to come. This initiative, rooted in the Respect and Connect pillars, underscores the resort’s belief that everyone deserves access to the joy of mountain sports, while supporting local retailers who will help make that possible.

Those eligible for the season lease will be sent an email with additional information and a unique coupon code to redeem at participating shops.
