Everything You Need to Get Started
Designed specifically for first-time skiers and snowboarders ages 16 and older, this lesson introduces the fundamentals you need to begin exploring the mountain.
Your instructor will help you get comfortable with your equipment, learn how to control your speed and direction, and develop the skills needed to make your first turns. Pico’s relaxed atmosphere and uncrowded learning terrain give you plenty of space to practice along the way.
All Lessons Must be Purchased Online
Available: Saturdays and Sundays from mid-December 2026 through March 2027, plus Feb. 16-19 and daily during peak periods*.
*2026/27 Peak Dates: December 25, 2026 – January 3, 2027; January 16–18, 2027; February 13–15, 2027
Ability: First-timers only
Meeting Location: Slopeside of the Pico base lodge area at the lesson meeting sign.
Lesson Start Times: 9:30 a.m. or 12:45 p.m. (lessons are 2 hours and do not include lunch)
Please plan to arrive 30 minutes before your lesson start time to pick up your lift ticket and rental equipment.

Adult Learn to Ski/Ride is designed specifically for first-time skiers and snowboarders ages 16 and older. Our professional instructors will help you get comfortable with your equipment, learn to control your speed and direction, and build the foundational skills needed to make your first turns.
Your lesson includes beginner-specific rental equipment and access to the Bonanza Learning Area, giving you everything you need to get started in one package.
Lessons are two hours long and are offered at 9:30 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. Please arrive 30 minutes before your lesson start time to pick up your lift ticket and rental equipment.
Learn to Ski/Ride can be taken once per sport—once for skiing and once for snowboarding.
Introducing Someone to Skiing or Riding?
Book the Learn to Ski/Ride Package + Bring a Friend Deal, a separate lesson package, at least two days in advance and receive a free one-day lift ticket for yourself.
Cancellation Policy
Prior to 4:00 p.m. two days prior to the lesson date, lessons may be cancelled for a 90% refund or 100% cancellation credit. For example, a lesson for a Saturday is eligible for a 90% refund or 100% cancellation credit through 4:00 p.m. the preceding Wednesday.
Prior to 4:00 p.m. the day prior to the lesson date, lessons may be cancelled for a 100% cancellation credit. No refunds. For example, a lesson for a Saturday is eligible for a 100% cancellation credit through 4:00 p.m. the preceding Friday. A refund is not available.
After 4:00 p.m. the day prior to the lesson, there are no cancellations or changes permitted since we’ve held that spot from our inventory and have assigned an instructor to teach the lesson. We know that weather and snow conditions vary, but if the resort is open for skiing/riding we will be providing lessons as scheduled and there are no refunds, vouchers, or credits issued due to these events.
